Typically, when someone is arrested for possession of a controlled substance and a weapon, they’re thrown into jail and seldom given bail. How is it then, that Adam Kokesh is out on five thousand dollars bond?
WHY IS THIS MAN FREE?
WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — Gun rights activist Adam Kokesh, who was was arrested July 9 for possessing hallucinogenic mushrooms while also having a gun at his home in Herndon, Va., will be released on $5,000 bond according to WUSA9’s Delia Gonçalves.
Kokesh, who has been held at the Fairfax Adult Detention Center, has also been ordered not to have guns according to Gonçalves.
Meanwhile, Barrett Brown has been mouldering in jail without a trial for over ten months for doing far, far less. Actually, that’s a good comparison– both Brown and Kokesh made the noob mistake of being on drugs and saying stupid shit into a camera and then having their front doors kicked in, but only Brown is being charged with crimes stemming from his actual journalism– namely “receiving and disseminating stolen information.” He’s facing upwards of 100 years for his work surrounding breaking the news about the massive private sector domestic spying operation known as Trapwire.
Doing what we do for so long has given us the knack for spotting certain behavior patterns– like what saw in Hal Turner. Hal would routinely go on his radio show and issue death threats against elected officials and repeat those same threats on message boards, but law enforcement never laid a finger on him. That is, until he admitted in court that he was a paid FBI informant. No, really.
We don’t have any love for Kokesh or his Frankenstein ideology of “anarcho-capitalism,” but we know a rat when we see one. We highlight Kokesh because of his ties to white supremacists, specifically his doe-eyed, softball interviews with white supremacist Kevin Deanna and the crypto-fascist Ron Paul movement. We also highlight him to warn any of the few poorly-informed leftists among his adherents that they should very seriously consider dropping Kokesh and his sideshow antics like a bag of hammers, lest they get caught up in whatever circus the FBI is trying to engineer. Oh, we know that they’d only pick up two or three friendless losers, but they’re people who probably wouldn’t have snapped were it not for Kokesh and his government sanctioned borderline personality disorder.
Sure, the police made a very impressive show of yanking out their armored personnel carriers and swat teams for some cretin with a mushroom habit, but just as soon as they caught him, they threw him back. The only question now is whether he’s acting as fly-paper or as a agent provocateur.

Like you said, “Kokesh is an attention whore”. The liberty people love this dude, but if I was part of this movement I wouldn’t want anything to do with this snitch. They had him dead to rights, but he’s out. Smells like a snitch to me.
