Kyle Rogers of the Council of Conservative Citizens is now a Virginia Flagger Fan!

oops-ha-ha

The Virginia Flaggers are a Confederate Heritage group, sometimes referred to as “Neo-Confederates”, who are based in Sandston, Virginia. The group was started in 2011,  their current leader is a woman named Susan Frise Hathaway who is constantly repeating their innocuous motto “Return the Flags – Restore the Honor.” Benign as the group may seem, it appears there is more to the group than meets the eye.

The Virginia Flaggers have had past associations with white supremacists during their activities as well known WN activist Matthew Heimbach was often seen in connection with the group. VA Flagger member Tripp Lewis had described Heimbach as a “good guy” even after Heimbach’s nefarious activities became more obvious.

In the early stages of the VA flagger group, Ms. Hathaway was also interviewed and promoted on a podcast with the white supremacist southern nationalist group League of the South.

It could be argued that their past associations to Heimbach and the League of the South are trivial and spotty at best, but now another white nationalist has stepped up to publicly praise and promote the VA Flaggers and their activities.

The Council of Conservative Citizens is listed as a White Nationalist hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and is a reincarnation of the White Citizens Councils. CofCC’s website and blog is administered by Kyle Rogers, a fairly well seasoned white nationalist activist who has been on the scene for a number of years now. Kyle very rarely makes a public appearance but when he does it certainly makes an impression (lol!)

Kyle, out of the blue, has decided that now the C of CC has a keen interest in the VA Flagger as he is now promoting their up coming “Lee-Jackson Day” event in January on the C of CC website called TopConservativeNews.com

Screen shot 2014-12-22 at 10.46.28 AM

This promotional article is also plugged  on hate forum Stormfront by a user named “UlsterScot12,” believed to be the alias of Kyle Rogers.

UlsterScot12 VA Flaggers Post Stormfront

Another posting was discovered on the White News Now forum under the category “Council of Conservative Citizens”.

Why would Kyle and the C of CC all of a sudden take an interest in a group that claims they are not racists or white nationalists– like the agenda of the C of CC and Kyle himself?

One plausible reason is centered around Kyle’s side business, which is an internet flag shop called “Patriot Flags.” There, Kyle takes freedom of speech down to the level of selling a variety of flags, many with a white nationalist or Nazi based theme. And if you take a second look at the C of CC Flagger article …

KylesFlagAd

In the world of capitalism it would make sense that Kyle smells cash in the blood of these confederate flag worshippers. He has a strong connection to League of the South and makes a profit by being the providing source for their big black X flags, glee club polo shirts and most likely the printed signs for their meager protests.

Screen shot 2014-12-22 at 2.01.08 PM

Are the VA Flaggers perhaps a potential business prospect? Or maybe the business relationship has already been on going? Either way– flaggers need flags, Kyle sells flags and he sells the kinds of flags they are looking for and they already have mutual friends in the League of the South.

The Actual Event:

Screen shot 2014-12-22 at 12.44.19 PM

The event in question that the Virginia Flaggers are planning is on Friday, January 16, 2015 and Saturday, January 17, 2015, in Lexington, Virginia for the Lee-Jackson Holiday.

According to their Facebook Event page :

For the third year, the Va Flaggers will gather in Lexington for the Lee-Jackson holiday. Friday, January 16th is the Virginia State Holiday for Lee-Jackson Day, and Saturday, January 17th is officially recognized as Lee-Jackson Day in Lexington. The Virginia Flaggers will flag the town of Lexington for action taken by City Council to ban ALL flags from city light pole flag stands, rather than allow the flags of Lee and Jackson to fly for the week leading up to the State holiday, AND Washington and Lee University for actions taken by President Ruscio to desecrate the LEE Chapel by removing battle flags from the Lee Mausoleum in response to the demands of 6 agitators/students.
Join us, as we “take it to the streets” to let the folks in Lexington and Washington & Lee University know that there are still many of us who honor Lee and Jackson and will not go away quietly.
We will flag all day Friday, participate in memorial services and the parade on Saturday, and flag Saturday afternoon/evening. We welcome all those interested in standing with us to attend Friday, Saturday, or both days.
Meet at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery Friday at 10:00 a.m, Saturday at 9:00 a.m. for instructions and information.
Lodging information here… http://leejacksonday.webs.com/lodgingsponsors.htm

Yeah, well LOL, so much flag drama and so little time. The most humorous part of the picture is this Va Flagger call for a TOTAL BOYCOTT of Lexington, Va and ask that participants take great effort and not spend ANY MONEY inside the city limits. The recommend lodging is outside of the town, and the Stonewall Brigade has negotiated discounted pricing. This boycott has apparently been ongoing since 2011.

Has this boycott had any effect on the businesses of Lexington?

28a40cc53d12269d4689588b397f314b3313cc5224c1b8d0bda8f29cdfa3b44f

There has been considerable doubt expressed as to the effectiveness of the boycott. According to data contained in a post at the Civil War blog Dead Confederates, the boycott has thus far been wholly ineffective and has made no measurable difference on the economy of the city of Lexington. An informal poll conducted by telephone to no less than 20 local businesses in Lexington, between Friday, December 19, 2014, and Sunday, December 21, 2014, also show that the boycott has had no negative effect on the economy of the city of Lexington. One hotel manager in Lexington said that he “Had no idea what we were talking about”, while the manager of a well known chain restaurant in town commented that they, “Didn’t know there was a boycott”. We did not receive a single positive response from any of the merchants in Lexington, Virginia indicating that they had lost revenue due to the effects of the boycott, with most commenting that they had never even heard of the boycott prior to our inquiry.

Who is going to this event?

Well we have spotted at least four known League of the South members Dennis Durham, Shane Long, Josh Newcomb and Jamie Farren who have pledged to attend the event.

Screen shot 2014-12-22 at 1.36.45 PM

Note: We must stress that we have no grounds to assume that the Flaggers are directly responsible for the Council of Conservative Citizens’ promotion of this event or the League of the South members joining in on the event, so we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt– but it’s certainly suspicious that a group that has had nothing to do with the Flaggers is now bending over backwards to promote them.

It is unclear if the Virginia Flaggers will distance themselves from the Council of Conservative Citizens and the League of the South by simply denouncing the groups promoting them with the possible prospect of business profits or the League of the South who see this as a venue to recruit and hand out their steel magnolia fanzine.

Time will tell…

Fredericksburg Hit with Confederate Rag

The flaggers are being coy with the placement of their new flag, which they privately erected next to the northbound lanes of I-95. They didn’t give the location of the flag because it’s on private property, but they did supply this photograph to the local CBS affiliate, with the hint that it was north of Fredericksburg, VA.

confed-flag

Wow, shooting the road signs from the back is a sure way to obscure the true location of it, right? Not in the internet age, it ain’t.

Well, I had five minutes to kill, so I loaded up Google Maps and took a little stroll up I-95, looking for some signage that resembled what was depicted in the photograph. Sure enough, I found this site, which looked promising.

overhead1

Let’s take a closer look. Hmm. There’s an overpass here, where the photo was probably taken.

streetview1

Truslow Road, eh? The property the flag is on doesn’t appear to be Truslow, it’s on this cross street. Beagle Road? What’s down here? It’s probably not the first lot, but what’s going on in the second lot?

streetview2

Hmm, 8 Beagle Road. That flag looks a little funny. We need to go deeper!

streetview3

Well, that seals it. And the image is from 2012, so this isn’t someone who was duped by the flaggers into flying their flag. But who lives here, anyway? Let’s ask the public records.

1452067_461255813984562_1046506466_n

Hubert Wayne Cash, huh? You mean this Hubert Wayne Cash, who professes to be a member of the Sons Of Confederate Veterans?

1601483_522968171146659_283237356_n

Whose picture is that in the lower right? Why, Nathan Bedford Forrest, Grand Wizard of the KKK and commander of the Fort Pillow Massacre, of course!

hubert

And who are the Sons Of Confederate Veterans, anyway? Rare among contemporary racist organizations, they keep up a decent facade of the “heritage not hate” line, but their membership roster and leadership reads like a who’s-who of the leadership of explicit hate groups like the League Of The South and Council of Conservative Citizens and they decisively expelled any moderate, non-political members in the early 2000s. Now, the Sons Of Confederate Veteran name is poison even to Civil War Reenactors.

Gone with the Flag

1374158_276787932446499_426056991_n

How sad and pathetic…

( for more images, please visit the blogs Blood of my Kindred and Dead Confederates. <— Dead Confederate blog is  kind of “douche baggy” but the photos are they got are good, they are not blog roll worthy )

Those of you who are new to our blog will be interested to know that we’ve been keeping track of a group from Virginia calling themselves “The Virginia Flaggers.” Their premise is simple, if not typically pompous for the romantic fantasy of the old south: “honor history” by restoring the confederate flag to prominence in the capital of the old confederacy by flying it in public. Thus far, their actions consist of a handful of participants waving confederate flags in front of libraries, museums and public buildings, and their greatest successes consist of being a nuisance to drivers and pedestrians.

Their latest scheme to annoy as many drivers as possible is to erect a fifty-foot tall flagpole “somewhere” along the I-95 approach to southern Richmond. That “somewhere” has finally been revealed to be 2501 Old Bermuda Hundred Road, owned by James D and Barbara B Eaton(registration is required, but free). James D and Barbara B Eaton run Eaton Landscaping and Lawn Care, and they are in all probability nothing more than patsies set up by the flaggers. Let’s take the time to point out just how incredibly silly it is to hide the location of a FIFTY FOOT TALL FLAG POLE, because once the flag goes up, everyone’s going to know exactly where it is, and property records are freely available to the public. The worn-out “heritage not hate” argument has already been thoroughly dissolved by us and others. We’ve documented their embrace of openly racist hate groups and individuals and the blog Civil War Crossroads has demolished their weak academic posturing; you can find out more at the links provided.

Today is the day that the flag was to be unfurled. We were seriously contemplating whether this would even happen at all, given the recent internal strife that saw their head drop everything and put as much distance between her and the group as possible. We’ve speculated that the flag wouldn’t be going up at all, and as proof that we shouldn’t be playing the lottery, it went up.

We were taking bets on what the final disposition of this saga would be:

mean people on the internet made us feel bad so we chickened out at the last minute

communist liberals made reams of undocumented, unverifiable death threats against us that we never bothered to report to the police, so we’re attempting to save face by defending it with video cameras and tazers

Lurching and squeaking like a broken toy, the flaggers managed to unfurl a historically inaccurate, fifteen-by-fifteen sheet of made-in-china nylon along the southern approach to Richmond along I-95. It’s mostly hidden behind a line of trees, visible only from directly across the highway.

Considering the amount of difficulty encountered by simply attempting to erect a flagpole, this will probably be the beginning of the end of the Virginia Flaggers. We suspect it won’t be long before some other idiotic ideologue tries to emulate their confederate forebears and chase after a lost cause.

Adam Kokesh: Portrait of an Attention Whore

Attention Whore Kokesh

Attention Whore Kokesh

The former member of a USMC PSYOPS unit and self-aggrandizing blowhard Adam Kotexkesh has planned a little stroll for gun nuts on July Fourth.

On the morning of July 4, 2013, Independence Day, we will muster at the National Cemetery & at noon we will step off to march across the Memorial Bridge, down Independence Avenue, around the Capitol, the Supreme Court, & the White House, then peacefully return to Virginia across the Memorial Bridge. This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny. We are marching to mark the high water mark of government & to turn the tide. This will be a non-violent event, unless the government chooses to make it violent. Should we meet physical resistance, we will peacefully turn back, having shown that free people are not welcome in Washington, & returning with the resolve that the politicians, bureaucrats, & enforcers of the federal government will not be welcome in the land of the free.

There’s a remote chance that there will be violence as there has been from government before, and I think it should be clear that if anyone involved in this event is approached respectfully by agents of the state, they will submit to arrest without resisting. We are truly saying in the SUBTLEST way possible that we would rather die on our feet than live on our knees.

Take if you will the case of Barrett Brown. Brown has been sitting in federal prison without a trial for almost a year at this point, for making threats on youtube against an FBI agent. Brown made these remarks while he was going through heroin withdrawal, but his incarceration happened without delay. Kokesh, however, has stated on the Alex Jones show (?!) that he considers this event to be an “armed revolt against the government.”

If Kokesh does not– at the very least– get a visit from some manner of law enforcement agency (and apparently, he lives right down the road from the headquarters of the FBI, so it’s not too far of a drive) he is every bit as much of a paid agent provocateur as Hal Turner was.

No, no– think about this. All of Kokesh’s stunts involve a large number of people getting arrested. Remember when he tried to sell lemonade on the national mall? The law he violated is in place to keep shitty multinational corporations like McDonalds from setting up a burger stand in the center of “America’s Lawn.” Those people he duped into standing up for libertarian capitalist exploitation of the commons? All arrested– except for him. Remember his “dance party” at the Jefferson Memorial? He got arrested as well as a bunch of other people for violating… a fire code.

This latest stunt is most likely the last, dying gasp of an agent provocateur who’s heard the buzz that his handlers are considering cutting his paycheck. Look, regardless if you are for or against open or concealed carry, the law is very clear: DC law explicitly forbids either within its boundaries, federal law explicitly forbids either on all of its property, Arlington National Cemetery forbids both (unless you’re part of an official funeral and it’s part of your full dress uniform, but we strongly doubt a gaggle of paultards in ratty t-shirts and shorts carrying a motley assortment of cobbled-together ARs and AKs are anybody’s uniform outside of whiny Halo fanboys whose mothers won’t bring them more chocolate milk, but we digress) and the border between DC and Virginia actually exists immediately where the asphalt ends and the bridge begins. Even if this cadre of hilariously inept goons manages to assemble outside of DC without any incident, all access to DC over that bridge during the fourth of July is controlled by checkpoints where all sorts of contraband are seized from tourists attempting to enter the District– and where, incidentally, I was detained and interrogated by National Parks police for a few minutes because I happened to have a sprig of mugwort tied around my backpack handle.

We’ve covered one of these stupid open carry rallies before. Kokesh’s plan makes that event seem level-headed and sanely managed, even though the elder event was organized by people who advocated throwing bricks through the office windows of their members of congress. Of course, those folks don’t really seem to like Kokesh’s plan. Oh, what the hell, they’re going BALLISTIC over it (OH GOD THAT WAS A HORRIBLE PUN)

“I recall Kokesh from his days with Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW), an offshoot of John Kerry’s Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), his ceaseless promotion of Adam Kokesh, and most of all, the crazed stare of the truly mad. My guess is that if he’s pushing an armed march on D.C., it is because he’s hoping to immediately surrender as soon as he hits police lines (There is no way he’ll be carrying a gun himself), and is counting on one of the hotheads he brings with him will starting a shoot war with poorly-trained Metro police units and trigger-happy federal agents armed with automatic weapons.”

Look, I don’t think that Kokesh is part of some bizarre Hollywood-esque fantasy that’s part of a plan to slaughter profoundly stupid gun owners in public in front of families with small children– that’s paranoid jibber-jabber. It is, however, standard operating procedure for law enforcement to use informants and provocateurs to entrap other people without having to actually commit the crime of entrapment.

We’ve mocked the hyperbolic rhetoric of the gun-nut crowd to no end here, so don’t take this as some sort of massive political shift– we’re highlighting Kokesh because he’s been the beneficary of a wall of silence. Any time anyone on the left has attempted to complain about his revolting behavior, they’ve been shouted down or ignored. Remember when Kokesh was kicked out of the IVAW house? What about the numerous times he’s conducted fawning, softball interviews with Kevin Deanna– the white supremacist founder of Youth for Western Civilization? If there was any response, it usually consisted of “YUR JEST A ILLOOMINATY SOCK PUPPET” or other barely coherent invective.

Now he’s going to collect a group of easily impressionable, easily terrified gun owners and throw them in front of a sea of well trained, highly disciplined and heavily armed police. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

Arlington Virginia Protest Against Gov.Bob McDonnell’s War Against Immigrants

Protest at Arlington DMV Against McDonnell Passing New Law To Prevent Legal Immigrants From Obtaining Proper ID

Arlington Va- To protest Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s draconian, heavy handed and ridiculous assault on the immigrant community, Tenants and Workers United staged a protest in front of the Arlington, Virginia branch of the DMV on Wednesday, September 15, with nearly one hundred people and members of LiUNA present in solidarity. McDonnell dropped any pretense of “only targeting illegal immigrants” by specifically assaulting the rights of legal, documented immigrants by disqualifying the government-issued “Temporary Protected Status” card as a form of acceptable identification to obtain a driver’s license.

In the wake of the deaths of three Benedictine nuns by a Bolivian national who was driving under the influence, McDonnell ordered the Virginia DMV to disqualify the “Temporary Protected Status” card as an acceptable form of government-issued identification for people to obtain driver’s licenses from the state of Virginia. The TPS identification is the primary (and in many cases, only) proof of legal residency for asylum seekers or other people who are legitimately working through the immigration system.

Protesters decried the disastrous effects this new legislation would bring to the immigrant community, as legal residents who depend on their ability to drive to earn a living will now be severely crippled. Glenda Herman, a US citizen, participated at today’s rally and put it plainly: “My husband has TPS and in two years will lose his driver’s license because of the Governor’s decision. Then he will lose his job as a driver. […] What future do my children have? How will we pay for college? How will we pay for food?”

Laborers International Union of North America Standing for the Rights of the People

The “law and order” facade of the anti-immigrant movement continues to wear thin. How do they expect anyone to have any respect for the law when they make it a crime to be brown?

Neo-Nazi Billy White Now Facing Financial Suit

Neo-Nazi Bill White Now in Prison is Also Facing Financial Suit

It is still debatable whether Neo-Nazi Bill White was ever actually a threat to society, but there is no denying that he was very good at pissing the wrong people off.

Not only are his charges being reinstated in Chicago, but now the group of tenants in VA, most who are poor and of African American ethnicity whom he sent out nasty and threatening letters to in support of their racist landlord are taking Bill to court in a civil suit for monetary compensation.

Neo Nazi Bill White back in court for civil trial

The trial will resume at 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

Attorneys for the plaintiffs (the five Virginia Beach women suing White) said to expect to hear from all five women and one of their husbands Thursday morning and into Thursday afternoon.

The plaintiffs also intend to play a videotape disposition of White from quite some time ago, where White talks about the case.

White’s attorneys told jurors they intend to defend him by arguing the plaintiffs blew the case totally out of proportion and that White was simply practicing free speech.

In May 2007, White sent every tenant at a Virginia Beach section eight housing complex a racially offensive letter and a copy of his Neo-Nazi magazine.

All five women received the mailer. At least one immediately went into hiding. Another woman’s small child opened the packet and looked at the magazine.

The five women caught White’s ire after they sued their landlord, a man White did not know and has never met, for violating the Fair Housing Act in 2006.

A U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) investigation found the landlord violated the tenants’ rights by setting a 10 p.m. curfew which he only enforced on blacks. The report also found the landlord intimidated the tenants after they filed a HUD complaint.

Using a different attorney firm than the one handling their current White lawsuit, they settled out of court with the landlord for between $20,000 to $30,000 apiece, according to courtroom testimony.

White also published the personal information of the lawyer whom represented the women in the landlord case, Kevin Mottley, on at least one white supremacist website, the Vanguard News Network.

A judge later ordered the information taken down but for White the damage was done.

Mottley continued to investigate White and later turned his findings over to the FBI in the spring of 2008. Mottley’s investigation was the primary catalyst which set off a sweeping investigation into White resulting in three criminal convictions last December.

One of those convictions was for threatening the five Virginia Beach tenants. At least two of them testified against White in his criminal trial.

The NAACP Letter to Jim Webb!

King Salim Khalfani is a man of guts!

Virginia NAACP condemns Webb op-ed on diversity programs

King Salim Khalfani Executive Director Virginia State Conference NAACP

July 26, 2010

The Honorable Jim Webb, Senator
United States Senate
225 Russell Building
Washington, D.C. 20510

Re: Op-Ed Piece in the WSJ on the Myth of White Privilege!

Dear Senator Webb:

On behalf of the Virginia State Conference NAACP, its’ over 100-Adult Branches, College Chapters & Youth Councils we greet you as a fellow Life Member of our Association as we commemorate our 75th Anniversary the Diamond Jubilee at our State Convention, October 29-31, 2010 in the place of our founding Roanoke, Virginia. Senator Webb, we have read your piece entitled, “Diversity & the Myth of White Privilege.” We vehemently disagree with your analysis and wonder if serving in the elite, rich United States Senate has skewed your vision of the world in which we live. Your opponent then and coming George Allen would not have had the gall to write about the “myth of white privilege” even though I am sure he feels that way. In African culture, it is said, when people show & tell you who they are. Believe them!” Your written word has spoken volumes for your belief system.

It appears that you and U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul are kith and kin. Do you really believe that affirmative action has hurt white, Anglo-Saxon Protestants or are you pandering to the divisive, conservative, Tea Bagger types whose votes you will need in 2012? The true beneficiaries of affirmative action programs are white, Anglo-Saxon women…overwhelmingly. If a white, republican, ultra-right winger, or Rush, Beck or O’Reilly had written or spoken it, the world would have known about it. But, you have written it and it did not go unnoticed but it did not garner the attention that it should have. After the race baiting of the past week concerning the U.S.D.A. and the right-wing blogger who doctored the tape and the statistics that show the African (Black) community’s suffering disproportionately during this economic depression, one would think that you would have more sensitivity than to pen that science fiction. Have you advocated for the funding for the long overdue settlement for the Black farmers? John Boyd and the farmers need some help.

You have given cover & solace to those “who want to take their country back (from whom?), who want to reload not regroup, who think it is ok to spit on and use racial epithets against African members of the House of Representatives. Senator Webb, we need to meet to discuss your philosophy and other relevant issues like: bailouts for the rich and sellouts for taxpayers, the unethical profits of the oil companies at the expense of citizens, the Iraq & Afghanistan wars that are killing our soldiers and the economy, the outsourcing of jobs to India, China & Brazil at the expense of U.S. workers and a plethora of other life and death issues that you could have championed in the Wall Street Journal. Oh, did I forget…JOBS, JOBS, and more JOBS for the citizens of this country!

Does your colleague, Junior Senator Mark Warner concur with your belief? We will ask him as well. Well, fellow member of the NAACP, we look forward to your timely response and we can’t wait to meet you!

Sincerely,

King Salim Khalfani
Executive Director

CC: Senator Mark Warner

VA Governor Bob McDonnell Appoint’s Nixon’s “Jew Counter” to Chair Position

No, this is not a joke…Nixon was paranoid of a “Jewish Cabal” so he hired Fred Malek to count and “control” the number of Jews working for the Department of Labor at the time.
Now Virginia’s governor Bob McDonnell has appointed Malek to chair for his “Government Reform Panel”
But, let us take a look into Malek’s darker past…
From Not Larry Sabato:

Later that day (according to a July 3, 1971, tape widely publicized on its release by the National Archives in 1999), Nixon and Colson, now alone, had the following exchange:

Nixon: Well, listen, are they all Jews over there?
Colson: Every one of them. Well, a couple of exceptions.
Nixon: See my point?
Colson: You know goddamn well they’re out to kill us.

Also that day, Nixon and his chief of staff, H.R. “Bob” Haldeman, had the following conversation (this, too, is from the July 3, 1971, tape that was released in 1999):

Nixon: Now, point: [Fred] Malek is not Jewish.
Haldeman: No.
Nixon: All right, I want a look at any sensitive areas around where Jews are involved, Bob. See, the Jews are all through the government, and we have got to get in those areas. We’ve got to get a man in charge who is not Jewish to control the Jewish … do you understand?
Haldeman: I sure do.
Nixon: The government is full of Jews. Second, most Jews are disloyal. You know what I mean? You have a [White House Counsel Leonard] Garment and a [National Security Adviser Henry] Kissinger and, frankly, a [White House speechwriter William] Safire, and, by God, they’re exceptions. But Bob, generally speaking, you can’t trust the bastards. They turn on you. Am I wrong or right?

“Two days later, on July 26, Haldeman sends a memo to Malek. “What’s the status of your analysis of the BLS; specifically of the 21 key people?” Haldeman writes. “What is their demographic breakdown?”

Malek answers in a memo the following day. Out of 50 names on the organization chart, Malek has run down the party affiliations of 35. Twenty-five are Democrats, one is a Republican, and nine are either independents, not registered, or of unknown party affiliation. “In addition,” Malek writes (someone—presumably either Haldeman or Nixon himself—has underlined this sentence), “13 out of the 35 fit the other demographic criterion that was discussed.” Scribbled beneath this (I’m guessing by Haldeman) are the words, “Most of these are at the top.” (Malek’s method of identifying who was Jewish and who wasn’t was to scrutinize surnames, rendering his estimate as unreliable as it was abhorrent.)

Six weeks pass, and it is Sept. 8, 1971. Malek reports in a memo (previously unpublished; thanks, again, to Kenneth J. Hughes) that he has had “several meetings” with Labor Secretary Hodgson “to convince him of the need for fairly drastic moves.” Six out of nine offices will be combined into an Office of Data Analysis. This will be headed by a “politically sensitive, loyal Republican economist,” presumably one who does not have a mezuzah nailed to his front door. The move will strip the BLS’ deputy commissioner, the unfortunately surnamed Ben Burdetsky, from authority “over the most critical areas.

In addition, Malek reports, two other associate commissioners with Jewish-sounding names—Peter Henle and Leon Greenberg—”will be transferred when the reorganization is announced.” (Henle, after a sabbatical at the Brookings Institution, was reassigned to the Library of Congress and after Jimmy Carter became president in 1977 returned to the Labor department* as a deputy assistant secretary before retiring in 1979. He died at 88 this past February. I don’t know what happened to Greenberg.)

“These moves do not go as far as I would have preferred,” writes Malek in the September 1971 memo, “but represent a reasonable compromise that I feel will make the BLS a more responsive and effective unit.”

Now, Malek makes another return to Virginia politics to advise Bob McDonnell?

What kind of “advising” is McDonnell looking for????

Has Confederate History Month Inspired More KKK Activity in Virginia?

Controversial Truck and License Plate From Virginia Exposed By Gawker.com

Virginia has been in the national news as of late, due to the actions of the newly elected officials who have been making some pretty idiotic decisions and declarations.

Besides Virginia attorney general Ken Cuccinelli’s attack on gays in the state’s academia, the governor of Virginia, Robert McDonnell, declared the month of April “Confederate History Month”.

Aside from insulting and alienating Virginians who do not share the Confederacy’s fight to keep slavery, McDonnell smacked the African American community in the face by keeping the element of slavery out of his tribute all together.

For those who deem these kind of moronic actions from elected officials as “harmless”, let’s take another look at what has now been inspired by the Virginia’s GOP “Southern Strategy”.

According to the ADL’s Schedule of Upcoming Events:

Saturday, May 08, 2010 Collinsville, Virginia: Klan Rally -Klan rally and cross burning organized by Knight Rider Knights of the Ku Klux Klan and the Rebel Brigade Knights of the Ku Klux Klan

Saturday, May 08, 2010 Martinsville, Virginia: Klan Rally-Klan gathering organized by Knight Riders Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

Saturday, June 19, 2010 Dungannon, Virginia: Klan Rally-Gathering organized by Virgil White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan

This is FOUR KKK rallies all happening within just a few weeks, and all just a few weeks after the newly celebrated “Southern White History Month”.

This can be just a coincidence? We think NOT!

Restore The Constitution; One Brick And Bullet At A Time…

Open Carry “Restore The Constitution” rally draws fifty

Pro-War and Questionable Sentiment At The Gun Toting Restore The Constitution Rally

Complaining about communism with AK-47s slung across their backs, gun rights advocates gathered for a multi-place rally to “Restore The Constitution” on Monday. A grim picture of sour-faced apocalyptics toting intimidating weaponry was tempered by reality, which presented the image of men in camouflage fatigues and a slight sprinkling of cheery women. Touted as a rally to support gun rights, second amendment language was curiously absent from the majority of attendees. Rhetoric focused on Health Care Reform, unemployment and government intrusion on personal liberties. When the topic finally did stray to guns, the rhetoric was not so much about gun rights advocacy or supporting pro-gun politicians, but fixated on the “from my cold, dead hands” theme. Allusions were drawn to the battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775 and the seizure of American colonists’ weapons by the British. Speakers at this event and a similar but unarmed pro-gun rally in DC all stressed that the choice of this date was not meant to invoke memories of the Oklahoma City Bombing, but to remember the beginning of the American revolutionary war. Further themes and promises were the typical cry of civil unrest if legislators refused to halt the erosion of constitutional rights. All of these are viewed in a slightly different light after viewing to MSNBC’s The McVeigh Tapes, where Timothy McVeigh stated that it was his specific wish for April 19th not to be remembered for his bombing of the Alfred E. Murrah Federal Building, but to be remembered for the start of revolutionary war.

A featured speaker was Mike Vanderboegh, who first crashed onto the national scene by exhorting people to vandalize the offices of Democratic party politicians. “I’ve got congestive heart failure and diabetic feet, and they’re scared of me” he laughed. Vanderboegh and other speakers repeatedly invoked the image of the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto, who rose against their Nazis oppressors, implying that the recent vandalism and violence surrounding Health Care Reform was similar to Jews fighting against Nazis. Vanderboegh further opined that he was feared because of his freedom to speak his mind, not because of the violence wrought at his behest.

Tom Fernandez from Alarm and Mustard

Tom Fernandez, founder of the “Alarm and Muster phone tree” gave identical, lengthy speeches at Fort Hunt and Gravelly Point. Fernandez complained of rising unemployment, the changing role of government, the passage of Health Care Reform and the vague generalization of “lost rights” and the impingement of his personal liberties by the government. As was typical for the other speakers, Fernandez did not speak about gun rights legislation or any particular pro-gun politician to support, but also invoked the insurgency of American colonists against the tyranny of the British. The speakers and participants did not stray from these talking points, and as such led to a feeling that everyone was reading from a script– a script which implied that we are currently living under a tyranny that needs to be violently resisted.

Restore The Constitution rally, 4/19/10

Restore The Constitution rally, 4/19/10

An attitude of disappointment permeated the rallies, which exhibited a stultifying level of foul planning. The rally was scheduled for the first day of the work-week, which guaranteed a low turnout. The rally began at 9am at Fort Hunt Park, which forced all attendees through the teeth-gnashing Gordian Knot of DC metro area rush hour traffic– and a further ten miles down a winding parkway. The rally then shoehorned its participants into an ad-hoc convoy and made them backtrack through the same soul-crushing traffic to the final rally location. The location of the final rally– intended as a dramatic press spectacle with the Capital as a backdrop– was located at a park located at the very end of the runway of Washington National Airport. Not only did the organizers split up their rally between two locations at a poor time of day, the penultimate location for the rally to speak to the press was located directly under the departure path for a major domestic airport.

Yaffers Made an Appearance To This Extremist Rally

As the convoy arrived at Gravelly Point and the participants filed out, the rally didn’t immediately reconvene; the nominally camera-shy and paranoid “gun nuts” spent 45 minutes conversing with themselves and fielding questions for the press between the roar of departing jets. The chitchat from this crowd consisted primarily of conspiracy theories of how Timothy McVeigh was a government agent, macho posturing of “they outgun us, but we outnumber them” and excoriations of the mainstream US press– told to clusters of reporters for mainstream US news outlets. Press outnumbered the police and the police outnumbered the protesters. We wonder what the purpose of this rally was, if not to expose fifty-odd gun owners to the scrupulous eyes of a multitude of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
